Shankar About Rajnikanth and Akshaykumar Film Robo 2.0

2.0, that is releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, has been entirely shot in 3D. The VFX-heavy film also stars Amy Jackson in a pivotal role. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, 2.0 is slotted for a November 29 release.

2.0, that stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, is less than three days away from hitting the silver screen. The sci-fi film, which has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 543 crore, has gigantic buzz surrounding its release, which, the trade pundits believe, will translate into numbers at the box-office. But keeping in view the film’s mega budget, the makers are under immense pressure vis-à-vis the recovery of costs.

Even as 2.0 readies for release in the theatres across India and the world,  director S Shankar, in an interview with the Times of India, was asked if a sequel to the film was on the cards. Shankar, without mincing his words, said that a sequel were only possible if Rajinikanth agreed to act in it as he could not imagine any other actor playing the role of Chitti.

Talking about it further, Shankar said that for 3.0, he needed right thought and convincing script to start with. He said that it was not about keeping the franchise going but entertaining the audiences with Chitti, who is loved by one and all. “Like Superman, Batman and Spiderman, I wanted the franchise of Robo in the country,” the director added.
